Great beer, lovely labels.
So these Williams Brothers beers have been about for a while, but they still make me smile. The detail in the gorgeous illustrations is incredible and the Good Times one even has a slight holographic finish on the lettering. If these were prints I’d buy them…

Not Another Student Show, Dovecot Studios, 9-13 June 2011
The Dovecot Gallery played host to Not Another Student Show last week. After two days of literally blood, sweat and lots of tears (not mine – you know who you are!), the Industry Night and Private View went fantastically well. I received lots of positive feedback from lovely industry people, which I was thrilled about and an A for my final project. And my mum liked it too.
Final College Project – Real books, not eBooks…
For my final college project I decided to create and brand a campaign to encourage people to buy a real book rather than an eBook. I chose to make the campaign a sub brand of Penguin Books (dream client). I drew inspiration from the awesome Coralie Bickford Smith, Jessica Hische and Seb Lester and developed a typographical advertising campaign based around the concept that real books have character – through typography, colour, illustration, cover design – all elements that eBooks lack. I used quotes from fictional characters expressing good things about books. These designs would be used on posters, postcards and bookmarks:
Although this campaign is pro print, it certainly is not anti digital, and an online presence is essential to any brand. I designed a website that has a focus on books, and also elements that people can engage in – quizzes, free downloadable campaign posters.

Can’t wait to see these gorgeous spreads in next month’s edition of Empire magazine… Even more excited to see the final instalment in July. Even if I do know what happens…
Sneak peak at final college project
For my final college project I have chosen to develop a (fictional – pardon the pun) campaign for Penguin to encourage people to buy real books as opposed to e-books. My concept is based around character – real books have character, ebooks less so. I have trawled my bookshelves for quotes about books from famous literary characters – here’s the first one… (heavily inspired by the marvellous Coralie Bickford Smith and awesome Jessica Hische – in fact I think I may name my first child Coralie or Jessica…)
HND2 This one’s for you…
During my frequent Final Project Freak Outs, I am trying to keep Helena’s mum’s advice in mind… whilst blowing in to a paper bag…
